On the front lawn of an apartment building in downtown Vancouver, I came across a nose-shaped eraser discarded amidst the leaves and chestnuts, which were opening bizarrely like so many lidded eyeballs. Guiseppe Arcimboldo (1527-1593 A.D.) might have enjoyed the unsettling visage that returned my gaze, quizzically.
