"Beauty and Chaos"
But what if some of us cannot hold ourselves to blind optimism of such cosmic proportions? For skeptics, only the miracles of love and beauty can make the brevity of life bearable, and chaos becomes our master wizard of delight, making mighty slashes of unexpected visual delight across the vast sky of our confusion. As Leonard Cohen proclaimed so neatly, and as artists everywhere known only too well, it is the unplanned, undesigned slippage of accident and disorder are "where the light gets in," both in visual art and in living. A slip is the signature that chaos makes upon beauty.
