Black Crows Invaded Our Country
A German Jewish holocaust survivor recalled an incident when she was in second grade: her teacher - "a very tall man, his hair was concretely plastered smooth" - warned the class that "black crows invaded our country long ago, and he pointed right at me." The survivor's voice on tape became material for a chamber piece by Steve Reich, titled Different Trains.
