"Guard Tower and Perimeter Wall"
Across from the camp's main entry, and visible here beyond the wall and guard tower, were the barracks for the young SS guards - their age averaging in the early twenties - who ran the camp.
Oranienburg housed the headquarters for all concentration camp administration across the Reich, and served as a training center for Schutztaffel (SS) officers before they were assigned to other camps.
