"Marcus, Life Again"
While working at home with my partner Marcus to construct a large planter with an interior sleeve of heavy black vinyl, I grabbed the camera and asked him to pose briefly, laying back in the planter, which at that stage resembled a sarcophagus. A passionate gardener, Marcus wears two fresh strawberries from our patch. This impromptu photo series became a quiet personal celebration of his physical recovery from the brink of death by cancer, which he had battled several years earlier, and from which he had since returned to life and vitality, a Lazarus miracle.
