Martyr der Maler
Searching for photo subjects after midnight, I came across this peculiar effigy painted in a narrow, unnamed alley separating two dingy old buildings on a Paris side street. I would guess that here the artist has portrayed himself (this seems like conceit from a male), his talent pitiably sacrificed in this barren, nowhere place. In a darkening agony of neglect, the painter aims to draw at least one witness to his purifying ordeal. And somehow, through the awful grace of his muse, he finds one. Or two, counting you.
