"The Ghost Wall" by Hunter Madsen

"The Ghost Wall"

After bulldozers tore down and hauled out the old wood-framed, mid-century buildings that had covered half a city block just days before, only this solitary, bleak exterior wall remained intact, the last vestige of a past time and place and set of inhabitants who will never be again.  For the better part of a year, the ghost wall in the vacant lot clung tightly to the adjoining modern building that loomed blankly above it, waiting for the final erasure. When its time finally came, the ghost wall disappeared in a matter of just hours; although not utterly, since our eyes, having seen, are now unable to stop seeing what has passed.
