Three Distempers of the Soul
Like it or not, most LGBTQ kids are born that way, and our species has always produced a lot of them. Both sexual orientation and gender identity in most people seem to be fixed early in life and may have an inborn genetic or, at least, physiological component.
Extrapolating from global surveys, at the present time the human race includes nearly one billion homosexuals, bisexuals, and transsexuals. This suggests strongly that, if there's a God in heaven to care, then He/She/Ze must like having LGBTQ people around quite a lot.
Yet none of this has stopped societies around the world from inventing reasons to denigrate, torment, brutalize, and ostracize generation after generation of gay and non-CIS-gendered children in their care. What this abuse causes in many of them is life-altering trauma based in fear, guilt, and shame, three mortal distempers of the soul.
